Case study
DNS Security Survey
An interactive research dashboard that turns internet-scale DNS and email security scan data into clear findings about standards adoption and provider performance.
The challenge
DNS and email security adoption is difficult to evaluate at scale, with millions of domains using inconsistent configurations across DNSSEC, SPF, DMARC, mail routing, and IPv6.
The solution
We built an interactive research dashboard that turns large-scale domain scan data into clear, explorable insights about security adoption, configuration quality, and provider performance.
Technical approach
The platform processes survey results from more than four million domains, organizing the data by ranking tier, DNS and mail provider, validation status, policy strength, failure reason, and combined standards adoption.
Design considerations
Dense technical findings were presented through responsive charts, comparison tables, guided explanations, and accessible light and dark themes without oversimplifying the underlying data.
Outcome
The finished survey makes internet-wide DNS security trends easier to understand, revealing adoption gaps, common misconfigurations, and meaningful differences between providers and domain cohorts.
